Hosein Kouros-Mehr is a Vice President of Oncology at Sana Biotechnology. Previously, he was a Medical Director at Amgen.

Born in Iran and naturalized in 1999, Hosein lives in Los Angeles. His family lives in Hacienda Heights, California.

Hosein completed his Ph.D. in developmental and cancer biology and his MD at the University of California at San Francisco. In 2000, he received his BS in biology from California Institute of Technology, graduating in three years with a 4.0 grade point average.

Hosein received a two-year research grant from the National Institute of Health, and was awarded the Kanel Undergraduate Scholarship Award, and the Phi Delta Kappa International Scholarship Award.

His past research addressed exactly when, how, and through which altered gene pathways tumor cells metastasize. Prior to this he was an associate scientist at Genetech in their research oncology department. He completed a post-doctoral fellow in the Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Genetics at the National Cancer Institute.
