Rajesh Gupta is the child of immigrants from India
Fellowship awarded to support work towards an MD in Medicine at Stanford University
Rajesh Gupta, MD, MS, MPH, is Head of the Global Health Portfolio at Vir Biotechnology and is also a member of Vir's COVID-19 development team. At Vir, he has oversight over therapeutic and vaccine development programs in HIV, TB, malaria, Zika, and other infectious diseases. At Stanford University, he is a Senior Fellow with the Center for Innovation in Global Health.
Rajesh was born in New York City to parents who emigrated from India. They are now naturalized citizens and live in Acworth, Georgia.
Rajesh received his MD and MS from Stanford University, his MPH from Yale University, and his BS and BA from Tulane University.
Rajesh's work in infectious diseases is at the interface of product development, clinical research and program design/implementation. Rajesh has led small and large cross-functional teams in startup environments and Fortune 500 companies and established non-profits, and, most recently, he helped lead the clinical development, approval and market access strategy for one of the first two approved drugs in the last 40 years for multi drug-resistant tuberculosis. Rajesh has held faculty positions at Stanford Medical School and Harvard Medical School, and has authored over 50 publications.
